Stop gossiping, start exercising

Women love to gossip, it's a universal truth. We never tire of it. We never get bored with it. We never run out of topics and we never seem to have enough ears for it. However, if the amount of time and energy we invest in gossip was utilised in exercising, no woman would ever complain about weight issues.

Gossip is inversely propotional to productivity.  The more you discuss what's going on in another's household,  the less likely you are to manage your own.

Now, if only you and I were to spend the same amount of energy on a treadmill,  wouldn't that be more productive and result oriented?

So, if you are a gossip monger whose whole life revolves around chatting up a storm. If you are that person who loves to know everything about everyone.  If your day doesn't shine bright till you haven't unloaded your fair share on your bestie, then this is the best opportunity for you to be active.

Get your pal to accompany you to your local gym. Chances are, your workouts will be so entertaining that you wouldn't even realize you even did it.

All those tedious hours of work out can be so much more fun if you have your personal motivation factor with you. If you don't have a workout buddy then try connecting with people who are already there.

Instead of asking your friends that typical question 'what are you cooking today?' Change it to 'what is our work out schedule today?'

Life is a blessing.  Don't waste it on mindless bickerings and senseless talks.  Make it as productive as possible.  Be innovative and squeeze fitness in your daily routines as and when you can.

Happy exercising people

Healthy Foods for Healthy Hair

The hair is the richest ornament of women - Martin Luther

Just like every other part of your body, the processes that support strong, vivacious hair depends on a balanced diet. It can take longer to notice changes in your hair than in your skin. There's more to your hair than what you eat. Smoking, hormonal imbalances, and not enough sleep can also affect how your hair looks and feels.
So...If you eat a balanced, varied, protein rich diet you'll be giving your hair the love and care it needs and deserves.

Childhood Cancer Awareness

My younger twin is a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with an extremely rare type of cancer when he fell down and had to be taken to the emergency room. Luckily, we had caught it early on and though rare, this type had an excellent prognosis. It was still a battle. Dealing with a little boy who was going through chemo and radiation was a roller coaster ride of emotions, tears and laughter where we could have it. His twin was his greatest ally, always prompting him to keep playing. His school (School of Knowledge) were extremely co-operative, and his father never failed to keep an appointment regardless of the fact that the hospital (click here to find out more about his hospital) was a good 3 hour's drive away.

Beating the summer heat

UAE is known for it's blazing summers. The sizzling heat that can literally cook a broken egg on your head within seconds. The hospitals teaming with cases of dehydration. Heatwave so strong that sometimes aircondition fails to work. Cars getting window cracks while parked under the direct sunlight a bit longer than necessary. Having a soaked shirt while making that 1 minute run from your apartment to your vehicle. The list is endless yet it is no reason to give up on your fitness regime.

How to beat the heat? Its quite simple actually. Follow these pointers and make your summer fitness enjoyable and fun:

1. Run outside at dawn. Despite what you think, it's quite pleasent that early in the morning.

2. A 30 min cardio workout in your own drawing room is always a good way to kick it.

3. Summer heat naturally urges your body to loose those extra accumulated winter pounds so binge on water and fresh juices and see those inches sliding away.

4. Have a good night's sleep to regenerate those damaged tissues in your body and have an early start to boost your metabolism.

5. Water sports and activities will whip you in shape in no time and develop some seriously gorgeous muscle formation in your body.

6. Last but not the least, summer time means lots of fruits and leafy green vegetables. Take advantage of it and enjoy garden salads whenever wherever.

In short,  summer is your best option to get back in shape if only you give it a chance.

Happy Holidays Everyone

Emotional Turmoil in Children and my Absence

The loss of a parent is never an easy thing for a child, and the opposite is virtually impossible to even comprehend. Children lose their parents in a variety of different ways which may not include death. It could be that a parent falls prey to some disabling disease that prevents him or her to function as a parent in full capacity. Or it could mean separation between the spouses due to irreconcilable differences. The result is that one parent becomes the primary caregiver, and the other who may have so much to offer, often loses the opportunity to do so due to what I can only deem as fate.

Children suffer. They feel hurt and abandoned. This comes out in various ways. The older the child, the more he or she will express the grief in anger related outbursts. The younger the child, the more insecure he will feel.

The Fourth Trimester

Attention: This is the kind of information you ought to share with a new mother.

Most parents, including myself, suffered/suffer from frustrating crying episodes babies have in their first months of life.

Dr. Harvy Karp said to Newsday: “Crying is not just a nuisance, but it’s a primary trigger for postpartum depression, for marital stress, for breast-feeding failure, for child abuse. for maternal smoking, for SIDS, for the over treatment of children with acid re flux medicine, for mothers overeating and mothers getting into car accidents.”

Let’s start off with a comparison between life in the womb and life in the outside world beautifully set up by Babycalmblog :

I am in shape; round IS a shape

We are the generation of ironic behavior. Don't we all keep telling each other that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, it lies in the eyes of the beholder and one should be beautiful from inside and not outside? Yet, we are the ones who pass judgments on others who are not the same dress size as us.

I won’t deny it; I often find myself a victim of such brain conditioning as well. Suffice to say, we are our best enemies and our worst nightmares.

Elbows And Knees - Protection

With summers already in UAE, it’s vital to pay attention to how we protect our skin from sun exposure. Even though, you may follow a routine beauty care regimen, you may tend to forget about your knees and elbows which are prone to develop pigmentation, dry, flaky skin and dark spots.
